Week 5: Inspired Action

Often, this is where we would like to start. Convinced as we are that nothing changes in life unless we do something. Collectively, we are addicted to the idea of taking action. But when it comes to Life’s Alchemy, there is a lot more to consider, as you have been exploring. And you will have been taking action across your life wheel in the last few weeks, naturally, because you cannot help it. Often, these are actions that are inspired, aligned with what your heart/body/soul would like to have happen. And this is exactly what we dive into this week.

Various kinds of actions

Routine based actions, are actions you do because you are used to doing things this way. Then, there are actions we do because we think we should or have to do them. There are actions we do because we think or know others expect us to do them. And, there are actions that are powered by our will. They are often born from authentic longing, and based on what our mind thinks is the best course of action. And then, there are soul inspired actions. They are aligned to our deepest knowing, and often we know them through our bodies more then our minds. Inspired action is clear, easeful, calls you quite loudly, even if it is scary as hell. The first step to take is always there, we always know what it is.. If we dare to listen. Although it doesn’t always make sense to our logical minds!

(And consciously resting, not doing and other self-care belong to the category of inspired action too!)

Your meditation: connecting deeply inside, and feeling into your inspired actions for this moment.

Your actions on the Wheel Take some time to write down your intention for each of your spokes on your Wheel. Then, feel into what the next Inspired Action is, that you want to take, and that wants to be taken. Also, feel if it’s an action that is taken easily, or if you would like to support yourself in taking it. Telling a friend about it can help, asking the to join you. Or asking to be held accountable by someone. Promising yourself a wholesome reward. Or finding someone whose expertise it is to help people with this kind of thing. There are a million ways to support yourself, and it’s good practice not to have to do everything by yourself. Here are the Word and PFD worksheets that you can use.

Choose your circle

Most of us are influenced to some degree, by what others might think or could say to us about our Inspired Actions. This is the time to start consciously surrounding yourself with people who lift you up. It’s okay to choose who you confide in. Don’t expect standing ovations from your closest friends and family when you start exploring new avenues in how to relate to Life. Start small. The time will come when you will shine your light brightly. Who could you connect with, whose energy would inspire and support you? Where could your connections become an even greater source of joy?

A ritual

Inspired actions want to have a place in your daily connection practice, especially at the beginning of your days.

After having connected with yourself, in your favourite way, ask yourself:

  • What does my body want to have happen?
  • What does my soul want to have happen?
  • What are the three most important actions for me to take today? Not the already overflowing practical to-do list. No, from your soul’s agenda. The ones that will make you feel good and on track, no matter what else you might or might not achieve that day. Make these your sacred promises for that day.

And if you like, you can add an extra check-in point at mid-day, to feel into where you are with your Inspired Actions, and what your body and soul want to let you know about. (For me, this is an important check-in for potentially needed self-care, as I tend to get lost in inspiration.)
