Week 3: Holding Space

Now that you have stated what it is you would like to have happen, and offered it to the Universe, God, the Goddess, it is time to create and hold the space that is and will become your life.

We are not in the business of holding Life’s (or our own) throat to make it happen. This journey is easing into allowing things to happen. Into changing that primary relationship. Small steps are good. And of course big steps are also welcome when they announce themselves.

Excercise: Is there Space?

We are taking this literally: Is there space in your life for what you would want to have happen on your life wheel?

Physical space? Emotional space? Mental space?

Can you imagine that which you would like to be part of your life? How would it feel? Can you hold those seeds in you and offer them space to grow? While you nurture, nourish and tend to them? For example, your question mark spokes need empty space, unassigned time, in your life to bring themselves forward.  How can you make more space?

Your meditation: holding space for life to move and express itself through you

Tap into the energy of the womb/ Hara, which is your portal into the universe. Tap into all that potentiality and invite that energy in, while you hold space for that potential in you. We will transmute anger, pain, doubt that comes up. And if it leads to inspired action, of course, go for it.

Exercise: Self-critical thoughts

You know that we often have thoughts towards ourselves that we wouldn’t ever think about our loved ones. It is time to start paying attention. We scientifically know now that humans believe what their mind thinks most often. Not what is most true. So it’s time to find the thoughts that you let loose on yourself habitually, and check to see if they are a) true, b) kind and c) helpful in your newly forming relationship with life.

Notice your recurring thoughts, write them down, check them, and do your Ho’Oponopono or other healing and clearing practice with them. Offer compassion and love to the part of you who can’t believe yet. In this way, you continue to create a safe place for your dreams and your plans inside you and around you.

And if you would like to dive deeper: here is the Me-FM exercise.

Self care

Enough sleep, water, nourishing food (beyond carbs), spending time outside, moving your body, spending time with a good friend will help you in every way. If you feel depressed, anxious, doubtful or in a funk in whatever way, before you start thinking and mulling over what is or isn’t possible for you, do these basics first. If I could get back all the hours in my life when I felt depressed, anxious and kept thinking thinking how to solve it, what was wrong – it was actually my blood-sugar levels and undiagnosed gluten-intolerance creating havoc with my hormones and mood, and there was no way I could have thought up the answers. They were not thinking problems. (If anxiety and/or depression are part of your regular experience, looking into food intolerances is very much recommended. Contact me if you have questions about this.)

Trust

If we want to become co-creators with life, we need to not always want to hold the reigns. The Tower-card in the Native American tarot, is about letting go of our desire to control what is happening. Because from our limited vantage point, we can only see so much of reality. Our other horse, fate, or our divine partner, has a much more encompassing vantage point. Can you trust? What is needed for you to become a partner of Life that can trust? Even in the darkness that is showing itself in the world today. Often finding a perspective that is broader than the one we hold can help us with this. The next exercise can support you with this:

Exercise: The hardships

List the hardships you have encoutered in your life.

– What have you gained from them?

– How have they made possible what is now?

I’m not saying this to say ‘it’s all good for something’, or even ‘there is a reason for everything’.

Looking back at the thread of my life, it all weaves together. It has made me ready for this moment. To offer my gifts to the world. But in ways that I couldn’t have known twenty, thirty years ago. And this is true for many people.

Emotional and energetic ‘hygiene’ We don’t think twice about brushing our teeth twice a day. Why not pay the same attention to your emotional and energetic ‘hygiene’?  Sharing a quick and easy exercise that you can do in any situation: Feel-Kiss-Flow, from Chameli Ardagh:

A ritual

Talk to your seeds. Talk to Life, the weather. Whisper your love, your longing, your appreciation.

How could you do this as part of your days?

You can create a little altar, a space where you consciously gather some objects that give you beauty, remind you of the relationship with Life you would like to have, maybe your wheel, or a visual reminder of (some of) your seeds. Honour your altar daily in a way that feels right for you (remember the little candle ritual we did?).

Or create a visual that serves as your desktop, or phone screen.

Reminders to be in communication. To feel into the energy of what you would like, as if it’s already here (because it’s very likely that it is here energetically already. Bringing things into form sometimes takes some time).

Listen to music that helps you feel the possibilities.

Change your main passwords into a word that is related to the relationship with Life you’d like to have (plus some numbers and exclamation marks of course for cyber security). You know: “LoversDance1000!” or “FloatingMagic4me“. The more often you type it, the more often it will remind you.

The possibilities for your ritual are endless.
